Welcome to Science Buffs, a STEM Research Blog affiliated with the BioFrontiers Science Alliance!

The BioFrontiers Science Alliance, or BFSA, is a student organization aimed at promoting interaction, collaboration, and overall camaraderie between each of the science, engineering, and math departments at the University of Colorado at Boulder.   We host a variety of activities throughout the academic year, including a fall barbeque, and Science Shorts several times each semester.  These activities are open to any students or post-doctoral researchers on the CU-Boulder campus.  To learn more about these and other events hosted by the BFSA, please visit our website at http://biofrontiers.colorado.edu/education/biofrontiers-student-group.

The goal of this blog is to highlight research being done in each of the science, engineering and math departments on the CU-Boulder campus.  In an effort to reach out to other scientists as well as the general public, we aim to break down recent publications from students and post-doctoral researchers to make the findings more accessible.  We hope that each of these blog posts will create an opportunity for the general public to learn about what is happening on the CU-Boulder campus.  In addition, we hope that creating these posts will help researchers from various stages learn how to display their research in an accessible, straightforward manner that will appeal to scientists from other fields, as well as laypeople.

See our contact info below if you would like to be featured on the blog – we look forward to learning what you’ve been up to and sharing your work with the broader CU-Boulder community. Please stay tuned for our first blog post featuring an article recently published by a researcher on the CU-Boulder campus!

Love to write? We are looking for additional writers to help compose posts.  In particular, we are looking for experts in the physical sciences and mathematics who would be able to interpret recent research in those fields for a more general audience.  Please contact us if you are interested!

If you are a student or post-doctoral researcher who has published a paper in the last 2-3 months, and you would like your work to be featured on the BFSA blog, email us!  Please include a PDF version or link to your article, as well as any additional information you think may be relevant (i.e., public health relevance, related articles, etc.)
